What exactly is GenieScholar?

GenieScholar is RemoteGenies’ social-impact program. For every 200 hours worked on the platform, we sponsor one Filipino child’s education for an entire school year.

Who contributes to the scholarship fund?

Both clients and freelancers (Genies) contribute. Every paid hour logged on the platform counts toward the 200-hour milestone that funds a student’s education.

How are the children selected?

We partner with local schools and verified NGOs to identify children from underprivileged communities across the Philippines. Selection prioritizes students at risk of dropping out due to financial hardship.

Can I track where my contribution goes?

Yes. You can view your total contributed hours directly on your profile, and we publish annual impact reports under the GenieScholar tab — showing how many students were supported, where they’re from, and their academic progress.

Can clients directly sponsor a child?

Soon! We’re developing an optional “Direct Sponsorship” add-on for clients who want to personally fund one or more children beyond the platform’s automatic contributions.

How much of my payment goes to GenieScholar?

A portion of every completed task contributes to the scholarship pool. RemoteGenies absorbs the operational cost—so your payments directly translate to real impact without extra charges.

How can freelancers get involved beyond working?

Genies can volunteer to mentor sponsored students through workshops or digital skills sessions organized by RemoteGenies.

When are scholarships awarded?

Scholarships are granted before each school year begins, based on the total logged hours from the previous period. Announcements and updates are posted in the GenieScholar tab on our platform.
