Everything You Need to Know Before Hiring a Genie

1. Sign up for a free account — new clients receive $20 in free credits to get started.
‍2. Create a task — describe what you need done, the timeline, and your budget.
‍3. Invite Genies to bid — review your matches and invite the ones who fit. You can invite up to 10 Genies per task, and you'll need to invite at least one before your task can open for bidding.
‍4. Review bids and choose — each Genie submits their estimated hours and a short explanation of why they're right for the task. Compare and pick your Genie.
‍5. Collaborate inside the platform using chat and file sharing.
‍6. Approve the task when satisfied — then the Genie gets paid.

Once your task is open for bids, the Genies you invited can submit proposals. Each bid includes the number of hours the Genie estimates the task will take, a short explanation of why they're a good fit, and optionally their relevant skillsets and portfolio samples.

Genies can't see each other's bids, and they can't change your task details. You'll get an email each time a bid comes in, and you can compare proposals side by side before deciding.

Credits are RemoteGenies' internal currency, used to pay for tasks. One credit equals one US dollar (USD), so what you see is what you pay — no conversion math.

You can purchase credits securely through the platform using your preferred payment method.Your Genie's rate is based on credits per hour — rates vary by skill level and experience.

Pay-As-You-Go: Credits are valid for 30 days from your most recent purchase.

‍Your Pay-As-You-Go balance has a single expiry date. When you top up, your new credits are added to whatever you have left, and the whole balance takes a fresh 30 days from the date of that top-up. So topping up extends the life of the credits you already hold — nothing is lost by adding more.

‍Example: you buy $100 on 1 August, expiring 31 August. By 25 August you have $50 left and you top up another $100. Your balance is now $150, and all of it expires 30 days from 25 August.

‍Monthly plans: Credits roll over for up to 4 months.
‍Annual plans: Credits roll over for up to 6 months.

Yes. Your task needs sufficient credits in your balance before it can open for bidding. If your balance is too low, you'll be prompted to top up first.

Yes. RemoteGenies uses escrow protection — your funds are held safely until you approve the completed task. Genies are only paid once you're satisfied.

Every Genie goes through a multi-step screening process, including:

✅ Communication and professionalism check
✅ Identity verification and profile review

Only those who meet our standards are approved to offer services.

All communications and payments take place inside our secure platform. Both clients and Genies agree to confidentiality and non-disclosure under our platform policies.

You can report inactivity to our support team. If the task is incomplete or abandoned, funds in escrow can be refunded or reassigned to a new Genie.

No. Both clients and Genies agree not to take engagements off-platform. Working around RemoteGenies with a Genie you met here breaches our terms and can result in account suspension.

Yes — all credit purchases and subscriptions generate downloadable invoices in your Billing dashboard.

Yes. You can upgrade, downgrade, or cancel anytime from your Billing page. Cancellations take effect at the end of your billing cycle, and any credits you already hold stay valid until their own expiry date.

You can request account closure from your account settings or by contacting support. Check your credit balance and any active tasks before closing, since unused credits and in-progress work are affected.
